RDS brings together dermatologists, rheumatologists, and researchers to advance understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of rheumatologic skin diseases through education, research, and collaboration

What We Do

RDS serves as a central resource for education, research, and clinical collaboration in rheumatologic dermatology.

We provide access to information and tools that support the diagnosis and management of conditions such as lupus, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis, morphea, vasculitis, and other rare diseases.

As a professional membership society, we are committed to advancing the field through ongoing research, clinical trials, and the exchange of scientific knowledge.

RDS HISTORY

The Rheumatologic Dermatology Society (RDS), originally known as the North American Rheumatologic Dermatology Society (NARDS), was founded in 2006 by a group of American and Canadian dermatologists. Emerging from longstanding international collaboration, the organization was led by founding president Richard Sontheimer.

Today, RDS continues to build on this foundation by advancing education, research, and collaboration in rheumatologic dermatology.
